Yessum, I can hear your narration loud and clear on this video, dear friend, and as you turned the pages of your scrapbook and reviewed the highlights of 2020, I remembered most of those moments from last year’s posts. In the early weeks of 2020, we had no way of knowing the drastic changes that were soon to come, the new normal mandated by the spread of the pandemic. When I look at old photos, yours and mine, taken during happier times, those mask-free times before we entered “The COVID Zone,” I often wish I could beam myself into those pictures and be back there again, blissfully ignorant of the hardships that would be wrought by the multitude of tough challenges we now face in the 2020s. While I’m dreaming, I wish we could go all the way back to the years before 9-11. They seem so carefree from this vantage point 20+ years onward. One thing your scrapbook reveals to me is that in 2020, in spite of the lockdown and harsh restrictions on life and liberty, you managed, in characteristic fashion, to keep having fun, keep making friends, keep learning and growing, intellectually and spiritually, throughout that dismal and depressing year. That trend continues as we approach the end of yet another COVID year, 2021.
