End of an Era

The end of an era. Friday was my last day at RTI and it felt great. At 9am, dad dropped me off at the office to collect my belongings and both Shetana and Ms. Ernestine were there. Shetana gave me a big bear hug and congratulated me. As I was collecting my belongings, she talked me into taking the electric stapler and tape. I filled two boxes. Before I left, I went over to Ms. Ernestine, we gave each other big bear hugs, she gave me a stuffed animal, and she’s so excited about her new job. She leaves on Monday. Kyle helped me bring my belongings to dad’s car and after he helped me put my things into the car, we hugged. We’re all going to keep in touch.

After I got home and after my exit interview, I sent around a few e-mails about my last day. Michele gave me her phone number and Suzanne gave me her e-mail address. Diann e-mailed me later. Kathleen told Shannon K and Ryan that I was leaving, so they sent me e-mails too. I’m going to be missed and I’m going to miss everyone too. I’m just so excited for my new job

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

Yessum, leaving a job you’ve worked at several years is a bittersweet experience. I remember getting verklempt the day I left my first job in TV news up there in Central PA, and again here in Central Florida when I left my post as production manager of a different station. You have blessings to count. Your departure brought bug hugs, gifts, kind words, helpful gestures and congratulatory emails from the friends you made over the years. I hope all of you do stay in touch.

Now get ready to clear your noggin and have a ball at the beach. Please be careful out there in the water if the surf is on the rough side. Watch out for rip currents, jellyfish and other hazards. I look forward to reading the highlights of your trip when you return.

Have a wonderful week, dear friend JM!
