Happy Summer!

At 11:31 last night, summer officially began! Today is the first full day of summer. As most of you know, I have Summer SAD and feel depressed in the summer. The longer days, the sweltering heat, yuck, I much prefer winter with the shorter days, colder temperatures, and more activity.

With that said, after a bevy of activity this spring, I’m taking a break this summer. I have some things I want to accomplish, one of which is finishing Happiness Box Project 2020’s scrapbook. I realized that when I created Facebook, I had the best intentions of using it to RSVP to RSJ Philadelphia’s events. I did and I was able to go to many, BUT, Facebook caused me to over extend myself with activities, both limited in person and on Zoom.

This summer I’m not paying attention to Facebook as much, I deactivated Instagram, and I’m not on Twitter as much. I want to regroup for the autumn and this summer I will be thinking up new topics for The Happiness Box Project Initiative newsletters.

I hope you all have a great summer! I can’t wait to share my stories and I can’t wait to hear yours!

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

Here in Florida, we don’t even notice the official start of summer, because it has already been sizzling hot for more than two months. If you suffer from a reverse form of Seasonal Affective Disorder, dreading the onset of longer summer days rather than shorter, darker winter days as most people do, then surely you wouldn’t want to move to Florida where the heat is your enemy 9 months out of every year.

Seems like you are making adjustments and coming up with a new set of priorities to see you through the rest of the year and beyond. Finishing the 2020 HBP scrapbook is a good way to bypass the summer heat, and cutting back on social media is something I’ve been preaching about for many years. You will be happier, experience a greater sense of freedom and have more time available if you are not tied down to posting and reading endless updates by yourself and others on FB, Twitter, Insta and other platforms.

If you are already in the doldrums, if you think there “ain’t no cure for the summertime blues,” then Shady’s got news and just the tonic you need. I know you like being Rick-Rolled… and starting tomorrow, you can get Rick-Rolled big time at Shady’s Place. Don’t miss my new post which hits first thing in the morning, dear friend JM!
