Today is the start of Pride. This month is still looking different, but some places are starting to get their groove back.
In New York City, they are having virtual events and some in-person events, but the parade at the end of the month is still up in the air. It will be virtual, but officials are waiting to see if it would be wise to have it in person as well.
In Philadelphia, the parade won’t be until September, when hopefully it’ll be a bit safer. Some restaurants are having drag shows and other events; my synagogue is having a Pride Seder this month. One of our Rabbis is a lesbian and I’m so thankful to be part of a Synagogue that accepts everyone.
Be loud and be proud! Be proud of who you are.
Hi, Jessica Marie!
Happy start of June and happy start of Pride 2021, dear friend! I well remember you covering many Pride events in years past. I hope the right decision is made this year regarding large in-person celebrations. I’m happy to know your synagogue is participating in Pride and that one of your Rabbis is a lesbian. Sixteen years ago, Mrs. Shady and I visited Key West during Pride month. We enjoyed watching and taking part in the associated parties and parades. I enjoyed the video of the queen imitating Barbra Streisand’s performance of “Memory,” the Andrew Lloyd Webber composition written for the 1981 musical Cats. When I was an NLP seminar trainer, our group visited New York City and saw Cats on Broadway. I also enjoyed the queen’s imitation of a cat meowing, coughing up a hair ball, scratching and screeching.
Join my guest blogger, Shady Dell V.I.P. Toni Deroche, on a guided tour of the Dell (inside and out) in my next post tomorrow morning. Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend JM!
