Last night I had dinner at Aunt Kathy’s house, my aunt, uncle, and cousin agreed to photos! My cousin, Matt, just finished college, he’s an amateur chef, so I took most of the photos of him cooking. A few of my aunt taking photos of her GF almond cake, and some of the food. No selfies or group photos since we kept 6 feet apart, but I can’t wait to print out the one photo of my cousin cooking and my aunt baking for the Happiness Box 2020.
At dinner, we talked about travelling. Last night I thought I was headed to Spring Lake, but it looks like I’ll be heading to Keansburg. $40/night, beach across the street, clean house, sounds good to me! I decided to go away for a little bit, but I will take a day trip to Atlantic City at the end of summer. I just love North Jersey. They talked about going to NYC again, checking out their beaches because they thought how I described the NY beaches sounded pretty. Next year, as Uncle Dave’s brother had surgery. It was fun talking about travel.
Oh, Matt remembered that I was halal and he asked me if I had other religious restrictions other than pork. I told him that I now eat kosher, but it’s the same as halal. However, I can’t have dairy so I don’t mix the meat and dairy anyway. Matt has Jewish friends, so we talked about that and when I cooked one night for Passover. Matt thought it sounded good.
Last night was so much fun and I’m very grateful for my family. ❤
Hi, Jessica Marie!
I’d love a slice or two (or three) of that GF almond cake! When Mrs. Shady was young her dad owned a popular restaurant in the Baltimore area. He taught her the art of cooking and food presentation. She is a fabulous cook, knows how to create a beautiful food arrangement on the plate and often takes pictures of our meals before we dig in. It’s nice that Aunt Kathy had you over for dinner and you chatted with cousin Matt. If you take day or overnight trips to the NY or NJ beaches I hope you have a great time and continue to take every necessary precaution to avoid the virus. When you are “away from it all” and having fun, it is easy to forget and let your guard down. Did you ever visit or stay at a cottage on LBI or visit Barnegat Light? I was there and it is a lovely spot.
Enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend JM!
