Thankful Thursday 26 December 2019

The final Thankful Thursday of 2019 and the final of the decade! Where have the year and decade gone?

This is the time of year where I like to reflect. I like to reflect on the events of the year. I met Savage in the autumn and he eventually disengaged from me. Not a bad thing, but as an empath, I felt bad about it for a while because I wanted to help. I also learned that I can’t help someone who does not want help. Also, my safety is priority. He was encroaching dangerous.

During this time, I came across @cpicciolini’s TED talk about his descent into neo-Nazism and how he got out. I decided to read one of his books about his journey and I couldn’t help but think and reflect. Romantic Violence was an amazing book and Christian’s story about how he got out and started Life After Hate is inspiring.

I reached out to Christian a few weeks ago and he responded on Tuesday. I told him about Savage and I asked him if it was normal to feel sort of bad about the situation. It is and he added, “just remember you are loved and you are surrounded by people who truly love you very much. Happy holidays.” Christian is right, I’m surrounded by true love and care, I’m also building communities of love and care. Savage frankly could care less about me and wanted to use me. I’m thankful he disengaged. While I hope he works his way through his potholes, they are his and he will want to work through them.

I reached out to Miriam today, the president of Center City Kehillah. I thanked her for welcoming me and I look forward to attending more events in the future. I’m thankful for all the people I met and I’m still thankful for the band giving me their CD as a hanukkah gift.

Chick Fil-A also gave me a gift today: a free elf cow. It’s so cute! I love the Chick Fil-A cow!

Before Terry left, she left me a cute gift. I’m watching her cats until tomorrow. I’m thankful for the gift and I’m thankful for Terry. The cats have been great and I can’t believe tomorrow is Friday. This week went quickly.

Today is the day of 7’s! Wraith turned 7 months and tattoo #2 turned 7 weeks. I love and cherish my ink. I’m thankful the healing process was smooth.

I’m thankful for my family and friends. What are you thankful for?

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

While this might be the end of the twenty-teens, it is technically not the end of the decade. This decade ends Dec. 31, 2020 and the next decade begins Jan. 1, 2021.

Thanks for telling us about Christian’s book Romantic Violence. It is surely an important read as we head into a crucial election year. i’m glad you were able to connect with the author and that he helped you process what happened with Savage.

I love your Chick Fil-A elf cow and I’d like to have a set of those cattitude mugs.

Happy 7 and 7 ink anniversaries! I am thankful to have the worst of the up coming move behind us. Practically every day of the last few months has been filled with work of some sort – cleaning, packing, moving, unpacking, organizing – but little by little we are getting it done. Just over a month from now we will be living at our new residence on a permanent basis.

Have a great Friday and a safe and happy weekend including your trip to Baltimore, dear friend JM!
