Happy World Smile Day!

Happy World Smile Day! Share a list of ten things that make you smile.

1. Photography
I love photographing everything from vacations to gatherings with friends and family, to the mundane, to scenery. In the past, these photos would just sit on my computer, but now with the Happiness Box Project, I print some of the photos to add to my box.

2. Scrapbooking
I love scrapbooking some of the photographs, especially the Happiness Box Project notes/photos when I open them in the new year. I love preserving memories and the smiles associated with the scrapbooking. I’m three months away from finishing the 2018 Happiness Box Project Scrapbook and the goal is to finish it next month so I can take a two month breather before I open 2019’s box and start scrapping that.

3. Travelling
I love connecting with other people and other cultures. I tend to make friends when I travel and the whole experience makes me smile.

4. Writing
Like photography and scrapbooking, I love writing and sharing my stories and histories. There’s something about writing that connects present me to the future me or the future me reads and smiles with the past me. I also love coming up with stories to share with others; whether to scare them, make them cry, or uplift them.

5. Music

6. Friends

7. Family

8. Water / Being in the Water

9. Body piercings

10. Tattoos

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

Thanks for letting me know it is World Smile Day. I wasn’t familiar and so I needed to look it up. I read that the holiday was the inspiration of commercial artist Harvey Ball who created the universally recognized smiley face symbol in 1963 and established World Smile Day in 1999. On October 4 every year, participants honor Ball’s memory, carry on his legacy and follow his advice: “Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile.”

I enjoyed reading your list of ten things that make you smile. I smile whenever I look at a baby or a furry animal, whenever I listen to a favorite oldie or hear something new that pleases and inspires me. I smile and derive satisfaction from completing a post draft and placing it on the schedule. Like you I have always felt natural – “in my element” – in the water and it makes me smile.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, dear friend JM!
