Library’s Valentine’s Day Hoopla | 1 February 2019 | Photo Entry

Last night was the library’s Valentine’s Day hoopla and it was a blast. We had fun playing hoola hoop games, a relay race involving unwrapping a Hershey kiss with oven mitts on, dressing people up as Valentine’s Day cards and voting which was the best, a white elephant game, and much laughter. I am grateful that I work with a bunch of kind, sweet women.

I’m also grateful for the co-worker that picked me up from the train yesterday, took me Target to get the goodies for the party, and dropped me off. We ended up having a snowstorm and it was helpful. She only lives a block away from me, so she took me home last night and also said if I ever need a ride to the library when she’s working, she doesn’t mind. I am blessed, I am beyond blessed for all the kind people in my life.

  1. Hi, Jessica Marie!

It puts a smile on my face to read about the fun you and your colleagues had at the library’s Valentine’s Day party. I never heard of trying to unwrap a Hershey kiss with oven mitts on. Wouldn’t it be easier to do it bare handed? 🙂 By the way, in York we always called those chocolate candies Hershey Buds, not Kisses. Did you every hear anyone call them that? White elephant games always result in laughter, and your camera captured some great moments during the festivities. I am overjoyed to learn about the friend and neighbor who gave you transportation and offered to help you in the future. It makes me happy to know you have so many kind and generous co-workers.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, dear friend JM!

    1. Hi Tom,

I can’t say I’ve heard them called buds in Philadelphia, however, when I went to the Wilbur’s chocolate factory back in 2009, I bought some chocolate buds. That was the only time I ever heard of that phrase. I like the name bud better.

Haha, you were right, but they wanted to add a challenge. Challenge accepted and I didn’t do too badly. Our team won. 🙂

We had a lot of fun and I’m glad we have a party each year. The laughter always warm my evening. 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, dear friend!
